This situation is at the point where the Israelis fell gullible believing this, but will be yelled at by everyone else if they don't. It's like when Lucy tells Charlie Brown that if he doesn't try and kick the football, she'll be offended. He's hesitant to do so based on past experience, but there's Peppermint Patty calling him a jerk, so what's he to do?
