Berlusconi tightens grip on media: The Italian Senate has approved a controversial measure which allows Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to consolidate his media domination - BBC News

Quote:

"Mr Berlusconi is Italy's richest man, and as well as his three Mediaset channels - Italia 1, Rete 4 and Canale 5 - he holds political influence at the board of state broadcaster Rai."

Berlusconi runs everything! That's so cool, if you're him. He's the closest thing to a king of a modernized country (not that Rupert Murdoch isn't trying). He gets to run the government and the media, all without being a dictator. I'm sure the EU will respond to this by expanding its abuse of "dominant position" concept in antitrust (see Rome Treaty, § 82) to include politics - Silvio Berlusconi, prepare to be charged with not acting equal enough.
